My Values

  • Kindness

My work centres around safety and connection, creating environments where the body can let go of holding patterns and find freedom of expression through movement and voice and art. Cultivating kindness towards self and others is paramount to this process. Giving ourselves time and attention, slowing everything down so that deeper listening can occur is a radical act in a culture built on productivity and distraction. Kindness allows us to sit with all our unwanted parts (e.g shame, guilt, fear, anger and mistrust) and find a home for them in the whole, and allows them to reveal their gifts. Approaching our mistakes, misunderstandings and blind spots with mercy can reveal what blocks us from being our truest selves, how we become an authentic expression of this and how we might thrive at this extraordinary time in history.

  • Balance

Maintaining a balanced life in our fast-paced, modern culture is not always easy but is a necessary part of stabilising our nervous system and laying the foundations for deeper healing both for ourselves and the world we live in. Eating fresh, organic local produce, moving my body regularly, engaging in self enquiry and deep relationships with my communities is part of this. I recognise that inequality exists and that effort is needed on my part to bring balance to humankind right now, starting with understanding my privilege and prejudice, learning about the colonial history of the country I live in and the resistance movements that have occurred against oppression, as well as developing my understanding of what makes me human. I seek ways to address inequality through my work and relationships and am open to learning new ways to co-exist with humans and more than humans in our world.

  • The body as the Source of Understanding

Understanding how trauma and other life experiences are imprinted in the body is an essential element to my work. Breath, movement, touch and using our voices are all birthrights which many of us are beginning to remember and access as rich sources of support and flow. I recognise the body as a deep well of information and I’m committed to honing the skills of deeper listening to the body’s signals for health, wellbeing, connecting with others and becoming the fullest expression of our true nature. My recent journey with Breast Cancer and related treatments has had a profound impact on myself and those around me. I am yet to integrate all the lessons this life experience has to offer but feel curious about initiation and stepping into new ways of being, new ways of working, centring deeper listening, body, breath and voice.
