Gestalt Therapy

Gestalt therapy is a way of working that brings you back to the present moment, to what is actually happening for you right now, in your body, your emotions, and your relationships. Rather than analysing the past in detail, it gently explores how old experiences may still be shaping the way you think, feel, and behave today.

A key part of Gestalt is paying attention to what your body is telling you, what emotions are present, and what might feel unresolved or incomplete. Gestalt recognises that we are not one fixed, single self, we contain many different parts (perhaps an inner critic, a frightened younger self, a part that longs to be heard?) Rather than silencing or fighting these parts, Gestalt invites you to get curious about them, to understand what they need and how they might be trying to protect you. Over time, this can bring a greater sense of inner peace and self compassion.

  • Why Gestalt

Gestalt therapy speaks to something deeply human and elemental in me. It honours the body as a source of wisdom, a living, breathing well of information. Through this work, I’ve come to see how the body carries our history, our wounds, our resilience, and our longing to connect. I’m continually learning how to listen more deeply to its subtle signals for health, for healing, for connection, and for the fuller expression of our true nature.

My relationship with Gestalt began in 2002, when I met my first therapist, who happened to be Gestalt trained. That encounter opened a door, and over the following seven years I immersed myself in Gestalt therapy and training, both as a client and a student. What I discovered was an approach rooted in deep respect for the present moment and a profound capacity for transformation. Gestalt doesn't seek to pathologise or fix, it meets what is here with curiosity, compassion, and clarity.

It took another fifteen years of living, working, and growing before I knew with certainty that I wanted to complete my training and qualify as a UKCP accredited Gestalt Psychotherapist. That journey is now well underway, and I bring everything I have learned along the way into the work I do with clients.

  • About My Approach

As a trainee Gestalt psychotherapist working towards UKCP accreditation, I offer weekly sessions for individuals seeking a body-oriented approach to psychotherapy. These sessions provide an affordable opportunity to engage in meaningful therapeutic work, aligned with my current level of training and under professional supervision.

Our work together would begin with a contract for an agreed number of sessions, focusing on present-moment experience while exploring how past experiences may still influence your life today. Rather than offering interpretations, I aim to bring compassionate attention to what’s emerging in the moment, supporting you in discovering your truest self and identifying what might be getting in the way of living more fully.

I adhere to the UKCP Ethical Principles and Code of Professional Conduct, hold professional liability insurance, and all sessions are conducted in strict confidence. My work is regularly supervised by an experienced, accredited Gestalt supervisor. My learning and development is supported by The Gestalt Centre Wales
