About Sarah Jane Heath

I am a body worker, facilitator, artist and vocal improvisor and the founder of Deeper Listening. I draw from my experience as a former social worker, therapist and educator as well as my explorations into and learning from the dynamic processes of my own body, movement, voice, meditation and spirituality.

I offer heart based, body oriented and trauma aware support where you can develop your own capacity for deeper listening, find safety in your body and discover creative energies, experience pleasure and express your truest self.

I am committed to supporting your personal agency over your body and the discovery of your own innate wisdom and sense of wholeness.

I offer my support to you in the following ways:

Massage for deep rest and relaxation

Deeper Listening Touch to support safety and connection in the body and the integration of parts of self, unfelt feelings and ‘forgotten pieces’ back into conscious awareness through listening touch and therapeutic relationship.

Open to Life Through Your Voice one to one sessions to free the voice and discover the healing, creative and overall health benefits of vocalising and singing.

The Voice Sanctuary for health & well being, connection and community, healing together through natural voice practices and Collaborative Vocal Improvisation.

I also create original artworks and illustrations and can be commissioned for creative projects

“Changes happen not from the attempt to force change, but to engage fully with the present being.”

My Intentions & Beliefs

My intention is to accompany you in a collaborative, receptive, and active way. To work with you as part of a joint creative process, opening to depth and light heartedness.

I believe that the resources to ‘heal’ exist within you, and the potential for wholeness is held within the very “symptoms” that bring you into working with me. I understand that the work of healing cannot be done alone and requires the context of relationship and steady guidance.

What I bring to each meeting…

Deep listening; being fully present to the moment, focused on what is here right now, without judgment or preconceived ideas. Through attention to breath, movement, what is spoken or not spoken, through the body’s temperature, muscle tension and sense of flow, I listen for different rhythms in your body, your thinking, your sounds and support you to begin to notice these patterns for yourself.

Holistic massage qualification, understanding of anatomy and physiology, membership of the Federation of Holistic Therapists and practice experience as an attuned bodyworker and touch therapist.

Gentle open space where stories can be shared spontaneously and feelings are allowed to emerge and dissolve in their own time.

4 years training in Gestalt Psychotherapy, bringing the essentials of contact and awareness, therapeutic relationship and cultivating the possibility for surprise and new insights. Each exchange (whether in verbal conversation together or with the body through touch) is a journey of discovery and the moment an unfolding mystery.

Commitment to professional standards and relational boundaries. Access to regular professional supervision, peer consultation and professional liability insurance with Hiscox Insurance.

Trust in the body’s wisdom and each of our capacity for self healing.

Regular voice practice and a curiosity for how our voices can naturally open in beauty, power and freedom of expression with the right body and breath support.

A passion for singing in community to unlock and cultivate creative and spiritual energy through the voice.

Training and mentorship with Briony Greenhill Vocal Improvisation Leader. Active membership of Collaborative Vocal Improvisation Community. Experience of facilitating Voice Circles in local community.

Membership of the Natural Voice Network and insurance as a community song organiser/facilitator for Voice Circles.

Current experience as a massage client, a mindfulness practitioner, an embodied mover, a singer in nature, a collaborative vocal improviser and an artist; all of which can stimulate the non rational parts of the brain and give me insight into the human condition and the unconscious realms.

10+ years experience of embodied authentic movement practice.

10 years of experience as a social worker and trauma informed professional, including working as a therapeutic practitioner with children and adults who’d experienced sexual abuse.

10 years as the lead trainer for therapeutic work for a national voluntary organisation.

Desire to awaken to our animate world, to listen deeply to life and the lives of all beings that share this abundant and sacred planet, including people, animals, trees, water, plants, sky, soil, insects, birds, landscapes and fairies.

Belief that nature calls out imbalance and that right now we are being asked as expressions of nature to bring back balance to humankind.

Are you curious?

I welcome you and offer deep resourcing to your body and spirit and support you as you accept this moment and rediscover your deeper self; where new paths become visible, not cognitively planned, but emerging from inside of you to meet the flow of life.
